I've had my couch on the side that scopes the neighborhood corner but since I plan on doing a whole lot of work at home in the coming weeks I moved the table to that side. I don't know where the gumption comes from but its here again.

For someone who's worked in the HBC buying office for fragrance and cosmetics I'm not exactly what you would call "experienced" with the stuff. It's taken me a long time to familiarize myself with makeup and become comfortable wearing it. There are probably several reasons for this including, but not limited to, teenage angst, being bullied, mom only having pink lipstick and my childhood obsession with saving money.

Of course in high school there was the fairy look but only girls with pixie cuts - my best friend included - could pull it off effortlessly as though they may actually be either real fairies or on drugs. (I can hear myself saying the glitter looked natural). And I guess before that there was goth. But again, while girls with religious backgrounds who owned abundant rosaries and gold cross earrings portrayed it well, all I could muster up was a black hoody with a skate logo and maybe black crayola around my eyes - I'm serious about the money obsession thing.

Its been over a decade since then and other than the matte red sailor lips I adopted last year I'm still not used to anything but the basics - the Maybelline package above - an eighth grader's pre-dance, treasure chest of magic - looks more to me like one hell of a lot of face paint. Benighted, all I can think to do is recreate this Vogue editorial circa 2007

Spring weather in March? My first instinct was to go for my primary colour cottons but they really don't work with opaque warming tights. My second instinct, which could actually secure the title as my overall "second nature" - since its always my confident boosting backup - is to pull out the fall weather grunge uniform. Hearing the Stills generally brings me back to that winter in Toronto when Stevie Raya, livejournal pal, came to Canada to see what all the hype was about and debauchery ensued. Whether their first album had just been released or if one of us affectionately serenaded the other to sleep with yesterday nevers tomorrow, its been the ongoing musical staple in our communications and visits over the years and I still think of her every time I hear it, any of it, even the new stuff! You should actually consider going right into production. There is a significant lack of fashionable knit wear in today's market. I have a list of at least twenty knit pieces I'd like to own. Seriously I have this one sweater I found in Toronto Chinatown that is falling apart that I would like recreated. (With my added bedazzelled pocked please).

Am I getting carried away? For now, the rest of you can see what my sister Natalie does have knit (sans bodysuits) on her blog. On New Year's day, myself and two friends each revealed three things we want to accomplish this year. We made a pack. We swore on it and there are consequences. Failures get beat. And by beat I do mean physically injured. Harsh? Don't get me wrong, I'm against violence of every kind and I am aiming for us all to reach our goals but a threat from your bff whilst your slacking at home watching the mentalist, does your psyche some good.

And while Natalie (one of the three) has requested no face punches, that is precisely where I would like mine to remind us all of the consequences of not fulfilling dreams. Lets hope it doesn't come to that.

Make stuff happen.

Back from America again! This trip was a little different.. Honestly, I was a little out of my element staying in the city. Not in an uncomfortable way but it was certainly difficult to go about my daily routine of taking strolls with hot tea, digging through absolutely everything in Junk on driggs, finding more than a bag full of atlantic vintage gems and then lugging home books found at Open Air Modern. (Always well received, so its worth the weight).

Our Brooklyn visits were reserved for familiar meals with the exception of the Brooklyn Museum (they are curating a Rock and Roll Photo Exhibit) and our last night in town, during which I had an awful allergic reaction and sat sulking on my phone. guilty. I guess subconsciously I was preparing myself for the year ahead. Better not have toooo much fun, I am cutting back with the night scene this year, at least til summer when I have a collection under my belt and can use socializing as a way of marketing, or publicity, or both. waiiiit for it.

Lets say May. Until then I am planning on fostering dogs from the spca and working hard.

You have my word. Maybe a few glasses of wine at sparrow here and there. deal?

The world is a small place. Today a blog called Haunt Style posted a small Brooklyn yard excessively decorated for halloween. The same yard I stopped at with a friend on a street in Greenpoint I hadn't even been down before on October 31st. In the heat and daylight of Halloween there were a few families just watching the decorations as if waiting to be scared. We stood there for about a minute and a half, sharing glances with the other standbyers then continued on our way applauding them for the level of participation. I hadn't thought of it again until today. The internet is funny that way.

I recently came to the realization that I'm really into bags. I imagine the condition is similar to women you appreciate purses but we are not talking about designer leather here. More like stained canvas Pepsi duffle bags and vintage ralph lauren pro america beach bags.

So yes. Maybe I have a problem, a problem of not having enough hooks in my apartment. Coming to grips with the collection has only push interest to a new level and yesterday I cut out a pattern to make something similar to this fall Apc denim gym gem.

After the embarrassing song and hat part of dinner a portion of the table disappeared and reappeared with the famed "birthday cat" faces thanks to Annie Lam, her creative genius and the fearlessness of my friends.

After about four hours worth of birthday drinks fourteen people left Montreal's new favorite restaurant bar Sparrow thanks to a bet. (the cats won). Real mature, I know - so this is where 25 years gets you, to a level of selfless participation.

Thank you everyone for another swell year and the grand celebration which obliterated the first day of my 25th year. Love Charlotte

Talk about GIRLFRIEND MATERIAL. Okay Lisa Sabrier is definitely taken and Carolyn Main probably has pretty high standards but this duo have all the criteria.

Sabrier and Main run Wool and the Gang which has a lot going for it including a readywear collection, knitting kits and, yes!, yarn. The collection is hand knit and not surprisingly, aesthetically balanced between basic knit necessities and unique pieces like the Halona scarf. This is the kind of company that runs on morals and values so you can feel good about supporting them and their stylish knits.
